General Description

Northeast Community College located in Norfolk, Nebraska and an Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence 2017 Top 10 School is seeking a talented individual with a passion for advising and student success to become our next Director of Advising Services.
The selected candidate will be responsible for developing and coordinating academic and career advising services and retention efforts to help Northeast students persist and succeed. This is accomplished by providing leadership for advising services and retention related initiatives of the Advising & Academic Support Center; serving as a primary advisor for students; supervising Advising Services staff at the Norfolk campus and the South Sioux City Extended Campus; developing, planning, and implementing annual Fall Orientation events on the Norfolk campus and Extended Campus locations as needed; and overseeing the management of recording student contacts and processing of student cases, and early alerts in the customer relationship management database. Frequent travel to the South Sioux City Extended Campus is necessary.

Qualifications: Education

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (education, counseling, or psychology) required, Master’s Degree in a related field (higher education, education, psychology, or counseling) preferred.


3 years of supervisory or advising experience required if highest degree earned is a Bachelor’s degree; 1 year of supervisory and 1 year of advising experience is required if highest degree obtained is a Master’s degree in a related field.


Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational, communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills, and proven ability to set work priorities and to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment required.
