General Description

Northeast Community College, a Top 10 Nationally Ranked Community College located in Norfolk, Nebraska is seeking a talented individual to fulfill the role of Instructional Designer.

This position is responsible for collaborating with faculty designing courses for both online and blended learning. This position supports faculty with the online course design, including course organization, assessment strategies, the selection of learning activities and content delivery methods. This person provided faculty with a framework for course development. They ensure integration of design, usability, accessibility and ensure the course(s) adhere to Northeast standards for instruction. Their role is to ensure quality and consistency among online and blended learning.
This is accomplished by: collaborating with faculty members as well as other team members to recommend appropriate tools and train individuals on effective use of instructional tools. The instructional designer supports faculty in effective design of online and blended instruction and the effective use of technology within these modalities.

Qualifications: Education

A bachelor’s degree, preferably in Instructional Design, Educational Technology or similar, is required. A Master’s degree is preferred. Applicants who do not meet the degree requirement will only be hired conditioned on obtainment of a bachelor’s degree.


Requires experience in training others in the use of technology tools; an understanding of and ability to articulate how people learn best in various environments; and experience in creating content for the web using a learning management system. Strong skills building and maintaining stable working relationships with faculty and colleagues.


Extensive knowledge of current and emerging instructional technologies, instructional design and in-depth understanding of pedagogical issues related to teaching and learning required.
